“Something was bound to go right…“
When we were kids, things were simpler.
We didn’t think. We just do.
Our actions were not based on logic but more on whether is everyone else doing it. If yes, do it. If no, don’t. Sociologists refers to this phenomenon as ‘Socialisation’. It’s the process by which we learn to behave according to the norms of the society that we live in.
I remember back then, boys don’t exactly mingle with girls.
Girls hang with girls, boys hang with boys. The perception is, if I’m not mistaken, if a boy hangs with more girls than boys, he’s undeniably ’soft’.
Unless of course, the girl is considered ‘tough’. And by that, I mean she’s one of the boys.
Fast forward a few years, introduce puberty and expectedly (or unexpectedly) the perception changes. Overnight the childish tendencies are replaced with brand new theories. Or as Barack Obama so cleverly puts it, “Why can’t I just eat my waffle?”.
This inevitably got me thinking. Is it possible for men to live without women?
My answer- not in university.
Maybe in some other place it’s possible for men to live without women but definitely not in university. The reasons being:
- Biology + Chemistry.
- The female:male ratio is unbelievable. 3:1 or is it 4:1? Sweet sweet motivation.
- Tertiary education is painful, girls ease the pain.
- Girls typically copy down stuff in lectures, guys typically don’t.
- In a 10-second thought cycle of a typical guy, he’ll on average spend 7 seconds thinking about girls.
- Research has shown that attendance is directly proportional to the no. of girls in the class. Hotness of girls maybe another factor.
- Men crave the attention (a.k.a. Confidence-building exercises).
Hmmpf.. I think somehow this post sounds sexist.
It’s unintentional. I call this the ‘University-level guide as to why men cannot live without women’. Haha..
No offense people. Good day~
